By: Maren Beverly By: Maren Beverly | January 24, 2022 | Style & Beauty, Art,

As the sluggish mood of January sets in, it’s time to shed our pajamas and brave the chilly NYC streets in pursuit of culture.

After all, New York City is a museum waiting to be explored: the diverse array of people, the cacophony of colorful sounds, the different dialects, the creative clothing designs draped over the city’s coolest citizens.

If you’re looking for a more curated experience with art, or rather, fashion, the city’s many museums have a lot to offer.

Whether you’re a design, art, or culture fanatic, these five fashion exhibits on display in New York merit a trip out of your apartment.

Head to Toe, on display until May 8, traces the role that accessories play, “within the total ensembles of Western women’s fashion, as well as the messages that they communicate about social and cultural values,” from the 19th to 21st century. Grab your favorite accessory and explore the social implications of adornment.

Perhaps the most well-known fashion exhibit is the Met Costume Institute's current exploration of fashion of the United States, In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.
