In support of The HALO Foundation’s efforts, Moroccanoil Co-Founder Carmen Tal joined Film Director and Actress Bryce Dallas Howard, Veronica Beard Co-founders Veronica M. Beard and Veronica S. Beard and HALO Founder Rebecca Welsh for a discussion focused on HALO’s efforts to help homeless and at-risk youth around the world with basic needs and essential life skills to help them start a new life. Moroccanoil Co-founder Carmen Tal was inspired by Rebecca Welsh and her work with HALO and asked her to join the inaugural INSPIRED BY WOMEN series in 2013, with a video directed by Bryce Dallas Howard. They have remained close and Rebecca is currently being featured by Veronica Beard’s Veronica Beard Gives Back (VBGB) program, which donates $10 to HALO for each online purchase made on their site during the month of November.
The panel was held at Gramercy Tavern in New York City on Thursday, November 11th, moderated by Jill Wagner. Key topics discussed included women doing remarkable work in the prosocial space, the power of empathy, finding time to give back and committing to young children to help them learn and grow knowing they’re the future of our world. To conclude the panel, HALO beneficiary Marjai gave her first-hand experience of how joining HALO when she was 10 years old living in a homeless shelter provided her the resources to defy her odds, escape homelessness and ultimately end up attending the four year colleague she’s currently enrolled in, on a full ride nonetheless. All proceeds benefitted the HALO Foundation.
