Tucked away on the storied street of Great Jones above sister spot Acme, The Nines will unite timeless elegance with unparalleled glamour in a 70-seat space.
Spearheaded by restauranteur and chief executive behind Golden Age Hospitality, Jon Neidich, the Nines is the coolest spot for wining, dining, and tuning into piano covers of funk, soul, and classic rock.

The inspiration behind the concept came from, “the famed lobby bars of grand European hotels, including The Bar Hemingway at The Ritz Paris and Dukes Bar at Dukes London. The piano bar takes additional cues from the intimate elegance of uptown icons like Bemelmans Bar and 20th-century café society hotspot The Stork Club. With the additive element of live music, Neidich sought to create a destination at the intersection of dining and entertainment that transcends a traditional eating and drinking experience.”
“Moved by bold, rich tones and moody ambiance, Neidich adorned the space in varying hues of burgundy reds, gilded detailing, fringed seating, as well as dazzling vintage Murano glass chandeliers he selected himself,” according to the release.

“In collaboration with Springs Collective (Frenchette, Vinegar Hill House), the team modernized the experience, layering in playful signature moments, including plush red corduroy settees, back-painted glass tables, honey-colored curvilinear marble bar top, and red walls with gilded details. The result is a space that is as opulent as the ones that inspired it, but with an injection of downtown edge that is unmistakably New York.”
The food and beverage team is led by critically-acclaimed Executive Chef, Nicole Gajadhar, and Zagat’s 30 under 30, Ashley Santoro.
“The menu takes its cues from Europe’s grand hotels, anchored by staples such as caviar, tartares, smoked salmon and blini, and more satiating options including the signature burger and club sandwich.”
“Cocktail offerings will be refined with an emphasis on elegant glassware, presentation, and service. The menu includes both specialty and house takes on classic drinks such as the Martini with a hint of sherry and a showstopping daiquiri with a blend of fine rums and a substitution of lemon for lime.”

“In addition, The Nines has a reserve selection of Japanese whiskeys, American bourbons, a dedicated drinks section of zero proof offerings, as well as an extensive cellar featuring old world wine.”
The Nines will spotlight a variety of New York piano players, performing an array of musical genres, anything from jazz to classic covers. The artists in rotation include Sam Behr, Yosef Munro, Darnell White, and more to come!
“Our ethos at Golden Age is all about Considered Hospitality,” explains Neidich. “Throughout this entire process, we focused on the guest’s sensorial experience. The soft lighting, the gold wallpapered ceiling, the feeling of a chilled martini in crystal glassware enjoyed with delicious food all while renditions of Chaka Khan, Irma Thomas, and the Rolling Stones play on the baby grand piano - the guest is taken on a journey that culminates into a perfectly harmonious evening.”
The Nines is open Tuesday and Wednesday, 5 pm - 12 am, and Thursday through Saturday, 5 pm - 2 am for dinner and drinks; walk-ins are welcome, though reservations are encouraged and available via Resy.com.
