Aerial photography refers to the collection of photos or images taken by use of an airborne camera. Though not a new concept, many initially avoided aerial photography as they deemed it more expensive and more technical to venture into. The previous generation relied on helicopters and other ways to capture beautiful aerial shots of landscapes and buildings. The entry of drones revolutionized the entire aerial photography world making it cheaper and easier for everyone to capture stunning photos from the sky. It's not only for photographers but also for filmmakers who capture beautiful and wide shots for videos.
Akil Henley is among the many photographers who are working hard to show everyone how the world has a more magical appearance from the sky. Akil is a creator and aerial photographer based in New York City. He has traveled to many countries around the world, telling stories and creating memories through pictures. His love for photography started at a young age when he took a liking to play musical instruments. He soon realized that he had a passion for art. With only six years of experience in the professional aerial photography scene, Akil has gained global recognition for his works.
During the famous French protests, one of the photos he captured was used by various publishers when the Eiffel Tower page reposting the photo in their stories. Here is a link to his Instagram account for you to have a look at some of his works. Having been in the industry when drones were not a big thing to now, Akil has seen the transformation and understands the impact of aerial photography.
At present, almost every movie or music video director has a drone at their disposal. Drones are offering them much better ways for capturing amazing scenes with minimized delays. Delays caused due to the setup of other film equipment to capture aerial shots are no longer a problem these days. Drones are faster to assemble and set up, saving a lot of time.
Drones have also made it possible to create more versatile action sequences that might have been challenging to complete in the past. Their ability to stay airborne at high speeds is simply unique. More interestingly, a director can retake the scene more than once to capture the best clip as it's relatively economical. Such dynamic sequences help dictate the tone and mood of the video or film being produced.
Have you recently been fascinated by an aerial view of a beautiful mesmerizing landscape in a movie? Conceivably yes, and that's the work of a drone. Such beautiful shots are used to capture and glue your attention to the video or film, all courtesy to aerial photography and video capturing by drones.
Akil believes that drone technology is here to stay and will continue to evolve more as aerial photography becomes more normal. The ability to see the world from a different perspective is breathtaking and more beautiful. Drones are making it possible for all creative individuals to add more layers of depth into their creative works.
