Channeling the whimsy of Glinda the Good Witch from the forthcoming Wicked, Ariana Grande arrived at the 2024 Met Gala in an ethereal gown by Loewe.
“It’s the perfect thing,” she called her look.
The 2024 Met Gala is in support of the opening of its Costume Institute’s exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” which is shaped around three primary zones: land, sea and sky.
It's something Grande embodied in her Met Gala ensemble. A gown made with mother of pearl (which also happens to be her birthstone), the opalescence of the dress nods to the bubble Glinda travels in through the sky.
“Pearls are made in the most unexpected of ways,” Grande reflected about the dress. “You never know what beautiful things you’ll find in unexpected places.”
Loewe designs could be found all around the Met carpet this evening. Alongside Grande, Met host and renowned Vogue leader Anna Wintour donned a look by the Spanish luxury fashion house. Inspired by a 1944 evening cape by 20th-century designer Charles James, Wintour’s bespoke tuxedo coat features floral motifs, hand-dyed feathers, pearl embroidery and tonal beading.
Besides celebrating her dress, Grande opened up about Wicked, which is set to arrive in theaters Thanksgiving weekend.
“It was the most extraordinary, transformative and beautiful experience I've ever had in my life,” she shared. “I love the project so much more now than I ever did, and I've loved it since I was 10 years old.”
Grande has already had an exciting 2024. Well ahead of the film premiere, the pop star dropped her seventh album, Eternal Sunshine, on March 8.
