As if omakase experiences couldn’t get any better, imagine savoring the taste of buttery uni in your sweatpants.
With a few bottles of sake, of course.
In celebration of national sushi day (let’s face it, every day is national sushi day for us), we’ve rounded up the best at-home omakase chefs in NYC, sure to delight even the toughest of sushi critics.
We’re not talking about ourselves, we swear.

Whether it’s a special occasion or a random Tuesday night, treat yo’self to the six most exquisite dining experiences in New York City.
Indulging in Tomokase is the equivalent of indulging in one of New York’s finest sushi restaurants, minus the struggle of securing an impossible seat at an 8-seat counter. And while you may not be surrounded by like-minded patrons (AKA New Yorkers who can taste the difference between toro and tuna with their eyes closed), the experience is just as delicious, and way more intimate. Diners have the choice of three different omakase menus: 10-course omakase, 15-course omakase, or 20-course omakase, all at varying price points. It’s definitely a splurge, but the 20-course omakase is definitely worth it for the Amber Jack sushi. You may not be able to afford that extra Equinox class in the morning, but hey, you win some, you lose some.
If you’ve been on #sushitok recently, you’ve definitely seen BestOmakase4Home. With delivery to New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and the Hamptons, this premier omakase experience is making its rounds around town. Unlike more traditional omakase menus, this one-of-a-kind dining experience offers mouthwatering appetizers not typically found at your favorite sushi spot. From awe-inspiring crispy rice to melt-in-your-mouth tuna pizza, BestOmakase4Home is bringing your sushi dinner to the next level. And if you’re not drooling over the tomato-topped king salmon, you’re seriously doing something wrong. This dish might even rival Sushi of Gari’s claim to fame, gasp!
Famous for being the best Kosher sushi in New York City, Masuda Omakase is taking your traditional omakase experience and flipping it on its head. Truly tailored to every occasion (and altitude!), this revolutionary dining experience is offered in the comfort of your own home, at the office, and even on a private jet! When you’re eating snapper ceviche on your own plane, you know you’ve #madeit. With the Masuda elite program, diners can customize their own menu to satisfy all of their sushi cravings. If we’re not having multiple orders of the gold flake, truffle, and caviar-topped toro, please make sure we’re feeling ok.
While Chef Omakase offers a plethora of different cuisines, we’re obviously in it for the omakase. Designed to be eaten in your silky matching pajamas, of course. Not only can diners pick from a variety of sushi menus, but they also can hand-select their chef. It doesn’t get more customized than that. From warm and buttery black tiger shrimp to the finest Roe in all of Manhattan, this at-home omakase experience is the definition of modern luxury.
Although this celeb-loved Tribeca hotspot is temporarily closed for renovation, Sushi Azabu is bringing the magic straight to your two-bedroom. In addition to the chef’s selection of nigiri, diners can indulge in a divine selection of sashimi, Japanese Yakimono dishes, and our personal favorite, the toro tasting. An entire section dedicated to the most luscious fish that exists?! Please, do yourself a favor and splurge on this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Known for being the biggest trend during the height of the pandemic, Ten Homakase quite literally saved all of us suffering sushi addicts. But while this unique dining experience is famous for its COVID roots, its grasp on the New York City dining scene has far surpassed that of the pandemic. Diners have the choice of a 10, 12, 15, or 17-course nigiri menu, but the drool-worthy specialty items are where it’s really at. Wagyu beef nigiri, a tray of the most spectacular uni you’ll ever eat, and a flight of perfectly fatty toro? Keep em’ coming.
