Oftentimes referred to as the “queen of cheeses,” Burrata is to cheese, as Toro is to sushi.
Originating from the Italian term, Burro, Burrata quite literally means butter. And who doesn't love butter?!
The harmonious marriage of mozzarella and cream is so beautiful, that not even your jealous ex could break it up. And that says a lot, that mans is cray.
And while most burrata dishes are worth cheating on your dairy-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, taste-free diet for, not all cheeses are created equal.

While you need to be an influencer, B-list celebrity, or certified Resy addict to even get your foot in the door, Carbone has some of the most delicious burrata in all of New York City. Call us basic all you want, but we know you’ll be blasting this dish all over your socials, too. Soaking in the most decadent olive oil you ever did taste, this melt-in-your-mouth mozzarella ranks highly next to the off-the-menu meatballs and veal parm. Pro Tip: put a large heaping of cheese onto your spicy rigatoni. You’ll thank us later.

When we die, please bury us next to the Burrata from Emilio’s. There’s something inherently intriguing about this dish, simple yet complicated all at once. The stark contrast between the soft outer layer and the ooey-gooey creamy center results in a blend of diverse flavors and textures. When you cut the burrata open, the rich inside seeps from the center, falling perfectly into the bed of fresh tomatoes. We know you’re coming here for the parm, but please, do yourself a favor and start with this one-of-a-kind dish.

The smoked buffalo mozzarella is hotter than the Investment Bankers sitting at the bar for after-work drinks. Made with sugar snap peas, ramps, and perfectly oily breadcrumbs, this must-have dish is a gift sent from the heavens above. Juicy, creamy, and oh so delicious, the flavors of this dish explode on your tongue like fireworks. And if you’re lucky, maybe you’ll have a little spark with Brad and Chad, too.

Everything at Marea is worth the hype, and the burrata is no exception. While this rave-worthy dish features fresh Nova Scotia Lobster and Basil Eggplant al Funghetto (which translates to eggplant cooked like mushrooms), the awe-inspiring burrata somehow manages to be the star of the show. Delicate and milky, sweet yet salty, this dish checks off everything on our list and then some. But let’s be real, we know you’re also ordering at least three of their world-renowned pasta dishes. It would be criminal not to.

Although definitely less known than the other spots on this list, this intimate, West Village bar serves some of the best burrata in New York City. And while this neighborhood spot embodies no-frills in every sense of the term, we love how they add a unique twist to this classic Italian dish. Wrapped in deliciously fatty prosciutto (pictured without), the every-so-buttery Mozzarella is brought to new heights by the saltiness of the meat. And when you have a glass of red (or three), from Aria’s extensive wine menu, you’re guaranteed to order a second round of this dish for dessert.

Indulging in Scarpetta’s burrata is like eating custard on a warm sunny day: thick, rich, and just sweet enough to satisfy your cravings. Served with pickled eggplant, tomato confit, and zesty balsamic that sends shockwaves to your tongue, this dish is an absolute must-order when visiting everybody’s favorite Italian spot. Just like Carbone, save some leftovers (if you haven’t already licked your plate clean!) to elevate your pasta from great to excellent. We don’t need to even say it, but we’re obviously talking about the insta-famous Spaghetti.

Opened in 1998, Babbo has been a New York City staple for nearly two and a half decades. And while everything on the menu is swoon-worthy, we’re in a committed relationship with their burrata. Served with rapini (a fancy word for broccoli rabe), romesco sauce, and crunchy almonds, we would write a Romeo and Juliet-style love letter to this dish. Although Romesco is typically prepared with fish, the sweetness of the burrata perfectly compliments the fiery, red pepper flavors of the sauce.

If you’re a regular at Lil Frankies, you’ll go crazy over its sister restaurant, Supper. We’re not kidding when we say we would have Supper’s burrata for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Pardon us, we mean supper. Prepared with ripe sliced tomatoes and fresh basil leaves, this dish is equally as indulgent as it is refreshing. And it’s under the salad section, so naturally, it's healthy.

No matter how many trendy Italian restaurants enter the scene, Il Buco will always be one of our favorites. Il Buco’s celeb-loved burrata dish is made with Lioni cheese, the most elite form of Buratta that ever did exist. Served with Phillip’s Farm Watercress, sugar snap peas, and aged balsamic, this dish is a party in your mouth! Although the burrata can stand on its own, we highly recommend pairing it with their curated selection of Salumi and Proscuitto; an Italian-lovers heaven!
