Calling all charcuterie lovers! Assorted cured meats, a variety of hard and soft cheeses, olives, fruit, nuts, crackers, tapenade, flavored jam, and baguettes—what could possibly be better?
Meat and cheese plates can be paired with a glass of Pinot and a side of romance. We’ve scouted out the top charcuterie boards in New York City perfect for a cozy evening with your love.
il Buco Alimentari e Vineria
53 Great Jones Street, Manhattan/Website
If you’re a frequent diner at the renowned Italian institution, il Buco, you’re in for a treat! This market-restaurant hybrid is a more approachable, rustic spinoff of the flagship establishment. Known for serving the best meat and cheese plates in New York City, il Buco’s offspring features an in-house salumeria with cured in-house salumi, panetteria with homemade classic and specialty bread, and formaggeria with an extensive local and imported cheese selection. Top your charcuterie board off with a glass of wine, or a housemade gelato from the gelateria!
Eataly
Multiple Locations/Website
This list would be incomplete without the renowned Italian marketplace, Eataly. To honor Italy’s long-standing tradition of salumi and formaggi, Eataly offers a wide range of Italian varieties, including Prosciutto di Parma, spicy salami, and crumbly Parmigiano Reggiano. Shoppers may hand-select their own meat and cheeses for a DIY charcuterie, or purchase a pre-made board to impress your annoying aunt who won’t stop talking about her trip to Capri.
Buvette
42 Grove Street, Manhattan/Website
Although many come to this Paris-inspired bistro for the famous prosciutto and egg toast, we highly recommend coming back for dinner and getting the meat and cheese plate. Diners can choose from a selection of fromages, such as rich and creamy raw cow’s milk, goat’s milk with a touch of jersey cow cream, or aged cow’s milk with a fruity and nutty flavor. The charcuterie offerings include chicken paté with onion confit, potted duck confit with roasted shallots, cured pork sausage marinated in olive oil, or pearls of prosciutto with sage and honey.
Bar Boulud
1900 Broadway, Manhattan/Website
Indulge in Parisian-style dining with Chef Daniel Boulud's famous charcuterie board. The decadent meat and cheese plate comes with the chef’s daily selection of pates, terrines, and cold specialties served with mustard, pickles, and toasted sourdough. If you’re still hungry for a savory dessert, treat yourself to pasteurized goat, cow, or sheep’s milk cheese. Whoever said there isn’t enough room for dessert clearly hasn’t been to Bar Boulud.
Amelie Wine Bar
Multiple Locations/Website
No wine bar is complete without a meat and cheese plate. This intimate, dim-lit hub offers a wide selection of charcuterie boards that are guaranteed to suit any palette. Try the Jambon De Bayonne with French dry-cured ham, Chorizo 100% Iberico with mild space and paprika, or Sopressatta made with ground pork and spices.
Boqueria
Multiple Locations/Website
Transport yourself to the lively streets of Barcelona with house-cured Jamon and pan con tomate. Boqueria offers an authentic Spanish-cuisine experience with 18 month-aged serrano ham, Spain’s most prized ingredient, 30 month-aged Iberico ham, and the Tabla De Quesos Y Embutidos with manchego, chorizo Iberico, Jamon Serrano, olives, and raisin walnut bread. Top off the meal with seafood paella and Patatas Bravas, and you might just forget that you’re not heading to Opium after dinner.
Uva Wine Bar
1486 2nd Ave, Manhattan/Website
The options are endless at Uva Wine Bar! Diners can choose from a long-winded menu of cured meats, including Prosciutto Di San Danielle with sweet undertones, Mortadella with a vibrant pistachio flavor, or salt, pepper, and wine air-dried Coppa salume. In terms of the formaggi, there is Gorgonzola Piccante, Caciotto Al Tartufo with cow’s milk cheese and truffle, and fresh Buffalo Milk Mozzarella. For antipasto to share, choose from the Antipasto Misto platter with an assortment of meats and cheese, or the vegetarian option with cheese and vegetables.
