FRANK GEHRY: THE MASTERPIECES
Cahiers d’Art and Jean-Louis Cohen have collaborated to create a guide to 40 of storied architect Frank Gehry’s most exceptional projects in Frank Gehry: The Masterpieces (Flammarion). With 480 illustrations and photographs, the tome captures the mastery and importance of Gehry’s work. The compendium details the stories and effort behind each piece, along with interior and exterior photographs. His most recent project, Luma Arles, located in France, is featured on the cover in a beautiful twilight setting.
CONTEMPORARY GARDENS OF THE HAMPTONS
From LaGuardia Design Group and The Monacelli Press comes Contemporary Gardens of the Hamptons, a genius collection of the landscape design group’s most beautiful creations from east to west. Its pages are packed with scenes of some of the most extravagant and well-designed landscapes by LDG from 1990 to 2020. With a foreword written by award-winning critic and author Alastair Gordon, and descriptions written by Thomas Christopher, the book takes readers on a journey through LDG’s iconic oeuvre so far.
DIOR BY JOHN GALLIANO
Dior by John Galliano is Assouline’s fifth volume dedicated to the fashion house. Curated by Andrew Bolton with images from photographer Laziz Hamani, it’s filled with fashion designer Galliano’s most famous quotes and designs, and also shines light on his lesser known creations. Galliano joined Dior in 1996 as the artistic director of the women’s collections and went on to be lauded by designers everywhere for his fascinating approach to haute couture, and his Dior designs from 1996 to 2011 are featured in this edition.
THE CARLYLE
The Carlyle (Assouline) pays homage to the iconic landmark with an introduction by James Reginato, Vanity Fair writerat- large. The book captures the glamorous spirit of this Upper East Side monument with old architectural plans and photos, celebrity interviews—including a foreword by Lenny Kravitz— and artworks inspired by the building. See photos of the hotel before and aft er its renovation, completed in 2021, by Tony Chi, as well as the power players who have stayed there over the years.
BLOOM: THE LUMINOUS GARDENS OF FREDERICO AZEVEDO
For even more gorgeous flora, check out Bloom: The Luminous Gardens of Frederico Azevedo (Pointed Leaf Press), co-written by landscape architect Azevedo of Unlimited Earth Care and Camille Coy. Having split his time between the Hamptons, New York, Los Angeles and Miami, Azevedo has been able to create multidimensional gardens on a variety of landscapes, many of which are featured in this text. He explains his process and view on nature across 200 pages of striking imagery.
