New York enjoyed an unseasonably warm October, but now that November is here, we’re ready to get cozy. There’s nothing quite like a cozy blanket and fall candle, and these local candle shops will give you all the homey vibes thanks to their amazing fall scents.

Founded by New Yorker Abigail Cook Stone, Otherland delivers incredible candles to the heart of Soho at their gorgeous brick-and-mortar. The brand was founded out of Stone’s kitchen and uses clean ingredients in gorgeous collections such as Homestead, which features six autumnal candles. We also love the Manor House collection, inspired by countryside weekends in the fall. Otherland’s winter scents have also hit shelves, so be sure to check out the Adorned and Gilded collections as well.
NYC-based candle brand Literie creates scents inspired by the very best of the city, meaning its fall scents are killer. There’s something so special about New York in the fall, and scents such as Hot Roasted Nut Cart, I Have a Cabin Upstate and Apple Picking in the Hudson Valley fully capture the magic.

Established in 2017, Paige’s Candle Co. candles are handmade with fragrances handcrafted in Queens and Brooklyn. A portion of sales are donated to offer free craft classes to NYC nonprofits, so you can feel good about your purchase of the incredible scents. The seasonal taxonomy collection features incredible candles such as Banana Nut Bread, Brown Sugar & Pear, Pumpkin Chai and Fig & Apple.
Founded by New Yorker Lindsay Silberman, Hotel Lobby Candle transports you without ever having to leave home thanks to its incredible scents. We love the Holiday candle for its notes of evergreen, fresh pine, balsam fir and blue spruce, and the Cabin candle for its smoked oud, orris root, forest wood and peppercorn. Luckily for us, Hotel Lobby Candle is opening its first-ever Candle Bar pop-up on the lower level of The James New York – Nomad starting November 12. The pop-up will be open for the weekend of the 12th and the weekend of the 19th from 12PM-6PM.
Handcrafted in NYC by family-owned brand CANDLE.NYC, these candles look as good as they smell thanks to their minimal branding and glass containers. The scents are inspired by the city, and scents such as Patchouli Tobacco and Santal are sure to get you in the fall spirit. However, our very favorite is Museum Mile, a woody-based masterpiece with a slight floral top note that reminds us of all the charm of the UES.
Whether you are in full-fall mode or inching towards the holiday spirit, these candle brands have scents that will make your whole home smell warm and welcoming, all while you can feel good about supporting local businesses. Happy shopping!
