The charred peaches and ricotta toast is the perfect way to celebrate the end of summer. Maybe celebrate isn’t the right word (hysterically cries) but you know what we mean. With the perfect balance of zest and creaminess, this dish is equally as refreshing as it is delicious. Screw a juice cleanse, you’re guaranteed to feel rejuvenated after just one bite. Plus, this will look amazing on your Instagram feed.
57 W 10th St, Manhattan/Website
Misi’s ricotta toast is fantastic, but have you ever tried Osteria 57’s truffle ricotta toast? If you’re true foodies like us, you know truffle makes everything just that much better. And we’re not talking about the lame truffle oil here. We’re talking full, earthy, melt-in-your-mouth truffles that make you question if you’ve ever had the real deal before this. 10/10 would recommend it!
65 Rivington St, Manhattan/Website
Buratta, fig, and hot honey is a triple threat that can not be messed with. A formidable force by nature, Sonnyboy’s intoxicatingly delicious toast is truly one of the best things we have ever tasted. The fieriness of the honey pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the fig and the milkiness of the burrata, creating an oasis of flavors that explode on your palette. Besides, have you ever seen something so photogenic? A+!
567 Union Ave, Brooklyn/Website
You weren’t able to snag the Misi res, but you miraculously managed to secure your spot at its sister restaurant, Lilia. BTW, we think Lilia is the stronger of the two counterparts. Anyways, the Mozzarella toast from Missy Robbins’ famed Brooklyn eatery is to die for. Served on homemade garlic bread, and topped with fresh Mozzarella, lemon, and subtly salty bottarga, this dish is nothing short of a culinary masterpiece.
42 Grove St, Manhattan/Website
The Sunday morning lines may be ridiculous here, but everything on the menu is totally worth the wait. But if you are foolish enough to wait in a line longer than the digits in your phone number, you better be treating yourself to some toast. Our favorite dish here is the eggs and prosciutto served on crispy bread, topped with heaping amounts of shaved parmesan. Yum. We’re salivating just thinking about it.
169 Thompson St, Manhattan/Website
Many come to this Major Food Group haunt for oysters and champagne, but of course, we’re in for the carbs. This hip and tiny spot offers three types of toast (tuna, trout roe, and uni), but the obvious choice here is the trout roe. The moment you take a bite of the bread, the roe pops in your mouth like the most lit party of the year. Maybe we will pop some bubbly after all!
431 W 37th St, Manhattan/Website
You haven’t had sea urchin until you’ve gotten the uni toast from this critically-acclaimed spot. We know that’s an obnoxious statement, but trust us on this one. Prepared to absolute perfection, the uni melts in your mouth like the most decadent stick of butter you ever did taste. Minus the millions of calories, of course. The sea urchin is fishy, but not too overpowering, making it the perfect dish for both foodies and newbies alike.
324 Lafayette St, Manhattan/Website
Bringing the Miami heat to NYC, the food at this downtown hotspot is just as great as its unparalleled vibes. And since wagyu is one of our favorite things on earth, we’re naturally getting five orders of the wagyu toast. Miami locals do rounds of shots, New Yorkers do rounds of wagyu. Topped with truffle puree and garlic chives, this dish completely surpasses all of our expectations and then some.
53 W 53rd St, Manhattan/Website
Singlehandedly making midtown cool again, 53 is the go-to spot for A-listers and mortals alike. Did somebody say foie gras unagi toast? I think we’ve gone to heaven just uttering those words. Referred to as the eel club on the menu, this dish is truly a work of art. A Van Gogh topped with seared fatty liver, that is. Talk about modern luxury.
From Manhattan staples to downtown newbies, these are the fanciest toasts in all of New York City. Pinkies up!
