Oftentimes it’s hard to find good dairy-free ice cream options (whether you’re vegan or lactose-intolerant), so here’s a list of five, can't-miss spots in the city with the best vegan ice cream.

This popular ice cream shop is known for its extensive and delicious vegan menu. The company started in 2008 in a yellow truck selling cones on the streets of the city, and it's turned into a New York staple with multiple locations across the country. Standout flavors include chocolate fudge brownie and oat milk passion fruit. You can even top it off with vegan whipped cream and hot fudge to make an extra-special treat.
95 Orchard Street / Website
This black and female-owned shop is the only 100 percent vegan, oat milk soft serve joint in the city. Enjoy different selected flavor fusions with a sweet creme base, including chocolate peanut butter pretzel that’s been coated with pretzels, chocolate and peanut butter sauce; or try a create-your-own option.

In collaboration with Oatly, this soft serve establishment offers many creamy vegan flavors, from cinnamon bun to iced latte and caramel apple, depending on the location. You pick your flavor (or flavors) and top it with the toppings of your choice for a sweet treat.
25 East 17th Street / Website
Made with just three ingredients (fruit, water and cane sugar), this shop offers classic soft serve flavors, including dark chocolate and strawberry as well as seasonal specials of coffee and blueberry. Enjoy them in a vegan waffle cone, in a sundae or even over a vegan waffle. If you're in the mood for a different kind of cold, sweet treat, try a selection of pops that can be dipped and rolled in toppings.
1067 Nostrand Ave. / Website
What sets this shop apart is its many flavor options native to the islands. These are not the typical tropical flavors like mango and pineapple, but unique, fruity flavors like sorrel and soursop. They even have boozy ice cream to enjoy the refreshing flavors with a special twist.
