Designed by renowned architect Peter Marino, the two-story brick-and-mortar is a jewel box within itself, complete with plenty of homages to Gabrielle Chanel herself, such as her lucky number five and inspiration from her Paris apartment.
Located within the historic Crown Building, the boutique boasts a gorgeous facade of black granite and gold bronze screens, which continue in the store’s black and gold interiors. Contemporary and fine art grace the walls, while both antique and bespoke furnishings adorn the room. The gilded walls are illuminated by matching rock crystal “Dream Catcher” chandeliers by goldsmith Goossens, providing the perfect backdrop to showcase the gorgeous jewelry.
The boutique carries a stunning assemblage of pieces from the Fine and High Jewelry, Watches and Haute Horlogerie collections. Fine Jewelry collections include Coco Crush, a tribute to Chanel’s quilted motif, and in NYC only, Chanel will provide custom engraving service for rings from the collection. Timepieces will also be available, including the J12 collection and the newly reimagined Première Edition Originale.
Perhaps most exciting of all, the boutique will carry exclusive High Jewelry designs and pre-launches, such as Eternal N°5. This gorgeous High Jewelry collection by Patrice Leguéreau includes a jaw-dropping diamond necklace and earrings, with the emerald-cut diamonds in the necklace able to be detached and worn on rings. The new Lion Solaire de CHANEL collection will also be pre-launching exclusively at the boutique. Drawing inspiration from Gabrielle Chanel’s beloved Leo star sign, the pieces feature lion motifs.
The opening has already caused quite the buzz, with celebrities such as Kerry Washington, Gracie Abrams, Sadie Sink, Elizabeth Olsen and America Ferrera attending an opening celebration. Abrams gave a surprise performance to close the star-studding evening.
