There’s no denying the star appeal of Michael B. Jordan. The Black Panther and Creed star is one of the most popular actors in Hollywood, and in 2020 he was named to Time’s 100 most influential people in the world. That being said, he’s not afraid to reach out to new opportunities, as well as highlight some of his oldest friends.
His latest collaboration with Coach is a perfect example. It was announced Thursday that the actor and fames fashion house would team up for their third collaboration, featuring the work of LA-based artist and Jordan’s real-life friend, Blue the Great. The capsule collection, appropriately titled “Blue the Great: the Art of Collaboration,” aims to recontextualize inclusivity in both art and the creative community as a whole.

“We had worked with Blue as part of our Spring 2021 campaign, so I was excited to partner with him and Michael on this special collection,” Coach creative director Stuart Vevers is quoted in a press release. “Mike and Blue have a great friendship, grounded in mutual respect for each other’s artistic approach. The combination brought originality, dimension and significance to this collection.”
The collection features all-gender clothing, footwear, bags and accessories. It was inspired by Jordan’s unique style and Blue’s artwork, taking nods from both sportswear and streetwear.
In the spirit of collaboration, all parties had a hand in the design. Coach contributing its “signature” C and dinosaur mascot “Rexy” to multiple looks, while Blue provides his unique calling card, mummifying the mascot and several other figures.

“I’ve been painting since I was a kid," the artist says. "It’s crazy and pretty exciting to be able put my spin on such an iconic brand like Coach. Whenever art and fashion mix, exciting things can happen."
Other high-profile items include a charter backpack with both the signature and mummified Rexy for $395, as well as a two-toned windbreaker covered with the signature, worn by Michael B Jordan in most of the promotional shots. The windbreakers lists for $695.
The new belt bags and totes are also notable, all of which featur the Rexy mummy, just in time for spooky season. The bags take center stage in the campaign promotion, with several messages asking “is it a bag or a work of art? Why not both?”
The design is splashed onto several monochromatic tee shirts and sweatshirts, so there are plenty of opportunities to rep Blue’s work. In addition to the artwork, there’s also a pair of high top sneakers for a perfect combination of streetwear and sportswear, retailing $250.
