The Couture Council Luncheon benefits the Museum of FIT, New York's only museum open to the public free of charge devoted solely to the art of fashion. Held this year at Cipriani South Street, the fashion-filled luncheon, sponsored by Nordstrom and co-chaired by Jeffery Fowler and Emilie Rubinfeld, raised nearly $700,000 with only half as many guests as last year. Attendees, including Caroline Herrera, Martha Stewart, and Fern Mallis, among others, celebrated the 40th anniversary of Caroline Herrera and the resurgence of the fashion industry.

"Vibrant, bold, and dramatic [designs] are themselves celebrations, filled with exuberance and joy...and carry on the timeless elegance and sophistication that made the Carolina Herrera line a classic American mainstay," FIT President Dr. Joyce F. Brown says of Creative Director of Caroline Herrera Wes Gordon. Supermodel Shanina Shaik presented the Artistry of Fashion award to Gordon, stating how confident and beautiful she feels in Caroline Herrera.

"To the queen of New York. The empress of elegance. I dedicate this award to you. I have only been the caretaker of the magical house you have built," he says.
