Welcome to this 14th floor Park Avenue dream apartment, where space maximized and designed to perfection.
Lina Galvão and Erin Coren of Curated Nest Interiors craft the ultimate Park Avenue apartment.
THE PROJECT
Lina Galvão and Erin Coren of Curated Nest Interiors put their design skills to the test to craft for a young New York City family. The dynamic duo of Galvão and Coren was more than apt to complete this challenge, designing spaces that catered to the family’s wish to entertain through shrew and strategic design. “Our clients love formal-leaning, luxe accommodations, St-Tropez, Monaco, Miami, Slim Aarons…we perused Auberge Resorts Instagram to get the juices flowing and were inspired by blue waters and pink sand beaches when thinking about the color palette and textures throughout,” said Coren. “The client wanted an overall feeling of light and airy, with clean lines and organic materials. They also wanted some ‘wow’ moments of saturated color, sculptural shapes and unexpected pattern.”
“The request for this room was that it be a serene, relaxing space for the adults to retreat to. We carried the subdued blues, taupes, and warm brass finishes through from the other rooms. We also introduced new nature-inspired textures via the shagreen bedside tables, the water glass chandelier, and the more casual cerused wood finish of the dresser.”
THE DESIGN
The objective was to modernize the apartment’s finishes and enhance its functionality, catering to the evolving needs of its expanding family. Design specialists were brought in to lead the aesthetic and practical transformation of critical areas such as the entry gallery, living room, dining area and a cozy dining nook. Even the spaces primarily used by the children, the home office, elevator landing, and vestibule, received a thoughtful refresh. The Curated Nest Interiors design team was crucial in selecting architectural materials and details throughout the renovation, carefully choosing everything from lighting fixtures and window treatments to hardware, wallpaper, and paint. They aimed to fulfill the family’s wishes for elegant and luxurious details while ensuring the durability and practicality needed for daily life, making the space stylish and family-friendly.
“The cream, blue, and mauvy-blush color palette comes together beautifully in here and coordinates with the color palette of the adjacent dining room.”
THE DETAILS
This pre-war apartment spans 2,700 square feet on the 14th floor of a distinguished Park Avenue cooperative building. Its private elevator opens into a spacious gallery, complemented by high ceilings and large windows that brighten every room. The layout boasts three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The primary bedroom boasts an en suite bathroom, while two additional bedrooms share a well-lit jack-and-jill bathroom. Additionally, a versatile home office can also serve as a guest bedroom, complete with its own bathroom. The living space features a formal living room with a wood-burning fireplace, an adjoining oversize dining room, an extendable table for holiday gatherings and a secondary area for smaller gatherings. A windowed kitchen with a sizable butler’s pantry completes this home, making it a luxurious living space.
“Shape and texture play major roles in this space with the geometric shapes of the light fixtures, custom dining table, and sideboard balanced by the organic patterns and textures of the grasscloth mural, sisal sideboard cladding, and the curved lines of the dining chairs.”
THE OUTCOME
Each space within the apartment merges luxury with practicality, creating a cohesive and inviting home environment. The entryway doubles as an art gallery, featuring warm metallic touches and natural light enablers, including a marble console and natural geode door pull, setting a sophisticated tone without overshadowing the client’s art collection. Ceilings were painted in high gloss white lacquer to add reflectivity and enhance natural light. The living room, designed for elegance and family utilization, incorporates durable fabrics and a striking gold leaf coffee table, serving as the focal point. In the dining room, visual interest is heightened through geometric shapes and organic patterns, with a custom mural adding a unique touch. The adjoining dining nook reflects the room’s design while prioritizing everyday functionality for family meals, boasting unobstructed views of Park Avenue.
“The entry to this apartment is awash in warm metallic finishes and filled with elements that reflect light and brighten this windowless space.”
“The materials throughout this space exude luxury; from the marble console table to the natural geode door pulls of the brass-washed credenza, to the perfectly lacquered white ceiling.”
