In 2011, power couple Amber Venz Box and Baxter Box invented an app that makes bloggers money when they tag their outfits. Today, they've driven over $2.7 billion in retail sales. Out this month, their new book shares the secret to Instagram success.
Husband-and-wife tech entrepreneurs Amber Venz Box and Baxter Boss invented the first and largest invitation-only content monetization platform for top-tier digital lifestyle content.
With 91K Instagram followers, Amber Venz Box is an influencer in her own right. While she does take pride in the curation of her personal feed (@venzedits), her main claim to fame is inventing two platforms (rewardStyle and the LIKEtoKNOW.it app) with her husband, Baxter Box, that empower other Instagram influencers to monetize their posts. Her debut book out this fall, Stories From the Influencer Next Door, highlights some of the style bloggers making the most of the digital world we live in. New York City-based social media stars like @TezzaMB, a musician turned fashion blogger who has 600K followers tuning into her account; @HauteHijab, who inspires 205K women to dress with confidence; and @simplyCYN, a Manhattan-based attorney whose power looks command attention, are just three of the 100 influencers who share their path to influence in the coffee-table book. “There are tens of thousands of wildly successful influencers who have unique journeys that they share in the app every day and millions who are just embarking on this path,” writes Venz Box in the foreword. “Together, these influencers have created a new industry—and a new way to look at careers and entrepreneurship.” This innovative influencer industry Venz Box speaks of was one she felt coming in 2011. “A year after I launched my blog, I was all-in on my new hobby, but I needed to find a way to earn a living,” she writes. “At that time, ‘blogging’ was not a respected activity and it was certainly not a career choice. Baxter, my then-boyfriend, now-husband, and I set out to find a solution that would allow me to turn my blogging hobby into my full-time job. The kind that could support ourselves and our families.” So the couple created a tech platform called rewardStyle to empower Venz Box and her newfound peers to become true digital entrepreneurs. Last year, rewardStyle launched the LIKEtoKNOW.it app, and today, it is the largest contextual shopping app in the world.
