On May 3,2018, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) hosted their annual Future of Fashion Runway Show featuring innovative looks created by the top graduating Fashion Design students.
Notable attendees at the show included: Zac Posen, Dennis Basso, Fern Mallis, Ken Downing, Lilliana Vazquez, Dr. Joyce F. Brown, Joan B. Hornig, Yigal Azrouel, Sharon Tal, Alicia Quarles, Ro James, Nicole Phelps, Kemal Harris, Stefan Larsson and more.
Throughout the spring semester, 10 major designers mentored the students as they created their collections, including Amanda Hsiao, Bibhu Mohapatra, Dushane Noble, Flora Backer, Josie Cruz Natori, Karolina Zmarlak, Phyllis Chan, Sharon Tal, Yigal Azrouël and Zac Posen. Once the students' collections were complete, five accomplished fashion industry professionals judged the designs to determine which garments earned a coveted spot on the runway. This year’s judges were Ken Downing (Neiman Marcus), Nicole Phelps (Vogue Runway), Nikki Ogunnaike(Elle.com), Emilia Petrarca (New York magazine’s The Cut) and Kemal Harris (celebrity stylist).
The 2018 Future of Fashion runway featured 77 looks that spanned across FIT's five specializations: sportswear, special occasion, knitwear, intimate apparel and children’s wear.
