The Times Square restaurant is the fourth location of the concept, with other outposts located in Washington D.C., Las Vegas and Orlando. The restaurant brings a true taste of British culture to NYC thanks to its authentic British pub fare elevated by playful reinterpretations of classic recipes throughout the fresh seafood, chips, sauces and nostalgic milkshakes. The intimate, fast-casual atmosphere welcomes guests in true English fashion through a red London phone-booth door, through which interiors bringing a bold interpretation of the quintessential “chippy,” are revealed. Bold pops of red and blue give the urban location a vibrant edge that matches the energy of Times Square. With only 35 seats, the intimate dining space gets plenty of light through huge floor-to-ceiling windows, offering diners an unfettered view of one of NYC’s most iconic landmarks. Of course, Union Jack flag elements abound in true Gordon Ramsay fashion.
Crispy cod, shrimp or chicken are served with chips and a variety of sauces. These are not your average fries, as they are naturally salted, or served “dirty,” and enhanced with chipotle, jalapeño and chorizo; truffle, parmesan, and chives; or bacon, cheddar, green onions, and sour cream. Savory sauces abound in the form of Gordon’s tartar, curry & mango, dijon mayonnaise, sriracha aioli, southwest ranch and cocktail.
In particular, we recommend the Fishwich, a modern spin on the classic fish sandwich, made of crispy cod wrapped in warm naan bread, avocado sauce, shredded cabbage and tomato relish. The cod is perfectly battered, and the relish is just tangy enough to provide some freshness. The Chickenwich, complete with a crispy chicken tender wrapped in warm naan bread, cabbage slaw, juicy Roma tomatoes, house-made pickles, and old bay dressing, is also a crowd favorite.
Curb your sweet tooth cravings with one of the scratch-made shakes, which include classic British flavors such as sticky toffee and Biscoff. Located at 1500 Broadway Street, Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips is now open.
