With summer comes New Yorkers’ favorite time of year—rooftop season. The options are seemingly endless, but we’re helping you narrow the selection down with three newly-opened rooftops to visit now.
Situated atop the upcoming Kixby Hotel in Midtown, The Lookup is the city’s newest rooftop bar from the creators of Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer. The concept: to create a destination for guests to truly live in the moment and “look up” from their phones. Designed by the Rockwell Group, the 2,200-square-foot indoor-outdoor space is divided into three zones with stadium seating, high-tops and lounge areas. The Lookup features elevated bar food and an innovative beverage program led by renowned mixologist Pamela Wiznitzer. The fun and original cocktails are numerically named for easy ordering, but whether you order a #1, #2 or #3, you’re bound to have a blast at this playful new hotspot. 45 W 35th St., Sunday through Saturday from 12 pm to 11 pm, thelookuprooftop.com
A perennial favorite, The Beach at Dream Downtown is upping the ante this summer with a brand new menu from Executive Chef Brad Warner. Bringing beach chic to the big city, the poolside eatery is offering up re-imagined beach club fare with pacific island influences, large-format cocktails and updated décor that includes a retractable weatherized pergola, swings, lush greenery and florals. Chef Warner’s new menu items are sure to please your taste buds, with new additions including BBQ Chicken Satay and Baja Fish Tacos, paired with delicious cocktails like the Coco Colada. And don't forget dessert—try the Pineapple Whip (which is made with homemade soft serve and Dragon fruit). So pack your bag and head to The Beach! 355 W 16th St., Monday through Friday from 11 am to 10 pm and Saturday & Sunday from 8 am to 10 pm, dreambeach.club
Over at Dream Midtown, PHD Terrace launches this season’s Aperitivo Tuesdays, a weekly happy hour series celebrating the art of Aperitivo. This summer, the indoor-outdoor rooftop will transform into an Italian oasis reminiscent of Positano—complete with floral installations, canopies, frozen beverages served from a custom Italian-style cart, and more. The seasonal pop-up allows guests to indulge in complimentary Italian bites, specialty spritz cocktails and plenty of Insta-worthy moments. 210 W 55th St., Monday through Wednesday from 5 pm to 1 am, Thursday from 5 pm to 2 am, Friday through Saturday from 5 pm to 4 am, and Sunday from 5 pm to 12 am, phdterrace.com
