The concept of telehealth and telemedicine has become extremely popular in recent years, especially since the COVID pandemic made doctor’s offices an unappealing place to be. Rather than risk exposure to germs and spend extra time waiting to meet with a doctor in person, many patients have turned to phone calls, video calls, and online chat functions for simple diagnoses and accompanying prescriptions.
But what is a relatively new concept for many, has been a tool in the arsenal of Nu Image Medical CEO Andreas Dettlaff for well over a decade. Back in 2008, when Dettlaff first founded Nu Image Medical, he partnered with his primary care doctor in New Jersey in order to provide care to patients. It didn’t take him long to figure out that he would need a way to reach a bigger client base. With a strong background in technology, Dettlaff turned to telemedicine.
Nu Image Medical operates in the anti-aging and regenerative health industry, providing prescription formulations and programs to those who are dealing with the physical and hormonal changes that accompany aging. Their current product line addresses hair thinning and loss, weight gain, erectile dysfunction, loss of libido, insomnia, and more. The medical experts at Nu Image Medical are constantly testing new formulations in response to customer requests based on what they’re going through.
Because of the sensitive and oftentimes embarrassing nature of Nu Image Medical’s customer needs, telemedicine has become a natural fit for how the company does business. No more uncomfortable doctor’s office visits, or taking time away from work to receive help with “vanity” diagnoses like hair loss - clients can simply phone in or log in and connect with their medical provider.
Good Business
Not only has Andreas Dettlaff streamlined the appointment process for his clients through telemedicine, but he has also hit on a way to keep his costs low. By relying on telemedicine, his company doesn’t require expensive-to-maintain physical offices or a sales team that recruits doctors to recommend their programs. Their medical providers can work with patients in remote areas, and appointments are able to stay on schedule; in fact, many patients report being more involved with their care than ever before.
There are complications and hurdles that come with large-scale telemedicine; Nu Image Medical maintains licensing in all 50 states and must comply with strict regulatory laws. But since first adopting the technology, Dettlaff has been adamant about operating in the space legally and responsibly. This has only enhanced their already positive reputation.
Poised for Massive Growth
After rolling out their telemedicine strategy to reach clients on a national level, Nu Image Medical turned their attention towards expanding their product lines. What started with a wildly successful weight loss program has continued to grow in order to address all of the hormonal changes that come with middle age. Andreas Dettlaff is especially proud of the thousands of customer testimonials that rave over not just the effectiveness of Nu Image Medical’s programs, but also their attentive customer service department.
Now, after building their team, their product lines, their marketing department, and their technology-based approach, Nu Image Medical is ready for a period of massive growth. Recently, the team welcomed marketing expert Kevin Harrington as Chief Marketing Officer, as well as brought on high-profile spokespeople like Carmen Electra and Ric Flair. The launch of their sexual health products, Mt. Everest and Screamer Gel Max, have rounded out their product lines and greatly increased female interest in the brand.
Although Nu Image Medical is often described as being part of the “men’s health” industry, women have found great success with their programs as well. While HIMS and Roman are major competitors, Nu Image Medical operates in a slightly different space. Not only do they cater to women, but they also focus heavily on research and development of new formulations. Their team of formulary pharmacists and quality assurance pharmacists create new dosages and synergistic combinations of existing, trusted medications, leading to maximum results for their clients. While their medical providers can still provide prescriptions for well-known medications, one of their biggest strengths is their proprietary formulas that are able to target multiple, related conditions - often with faster results.
Just as Andreas Dettlaff embraced telemedicine early on, he also made a major investment in the company’s internal technology systems. Rather than rely on third-party software integrations, Nu Image enjoys its own proprietary software platform that fully automates and connects every department in the company. Acting as an EMR [electronic medical record], an accounting software platform, a video platform, a billing platform, a customer service platform, a medical platform, and a reporting platform, this software will allow Nu Image Medical to grow exponentially bigger before requiring any further investment or upgrade.
Reading the Marketplace
Andreas Dettlaff has proven that he has a unique ability to read the marketplace and adapt his business model in order to create programs and conveniences that his clients appreciate. Never one to shy away from how technology can enhance the customer experience, he has stayed ahead of trends and initiated early adoption of exciting advancements.
As Nu Image Medical moves into their next phase of growth, they’re one to watch for what’s coming, both on the technology front and in regenerative medicine. With more in the pipeline, the next few years look very promising for Andreas Dettlaff and Nu Image Medical.
