For tourists and locals in search of new territory to explore–and a way to avoid the brunch crowds of North Brooklyn and inevitable sidewalk traffic of Manhattan–South Brooklyn’s up-and-coming Industry City is the place to be. Described as a "city within a city," this South Brooklyn enclave is a hub for media, creatives, and entrepreneurs.
Brooklyn’s new hot spot offers destination-worthy eats, live Jazz music, outdoor fitness classes, movie nights, and more. Industry City is also the home to Brooklyn Kura, New York’s first sake brewery and taproom, which put this budding neighborhood on the map.

Industry City is an expansive six-million square foot complex, comprised of 16 buildings housing a vibrant and diverse community of artisans and makers, including Brooklyn Kura. Recently reopened with indoor and outdoor seating, the Brooklyn Kura taproom regularly hosts educational sake tastings, pop-up dinners, and other community events.
As one of only a handful of sake breweries in the United States, Brooklyn Kura is an emerging leader of the American craft sake movement. With respect for the Japanese sake brewing traditions that have evolved over a thousand years, co-founders Brian Polen and Brandon Doughan inspire interest in the ancient beverage with the application of unique American ingredients and a passion for the process.
With over ten rotating sakes on tap, and refreshing sake-based cocktails, Brooklyn Kura is a must-visit spot to grab a drink while in Industry City. Make sure to order the Ursula Garden, a butterfly pea tea infused koji sake, with rose water, ume sour plum, and coconut water. This innovative sake bar puts a unique spin on the traditional Japanese rice wine, and we are here for it.
Over the past few years, the burgeoning city has grown into an eclectic multicultural hub with the addition of Japanese food hall and grocery, Japan Village, popular Red Hook BBQ spot, Hometown Bar-B Que, and spice and specialty market, Sahadi’s.
This summer, Industry City is offering live DJ entertainment, pilates and crossfit classes, rock ‘n roll music, flea markets, stand-up comedy and more. The full summer 2021 calendar can be found here. Plan ahead and make a full day out of it!
