Yes, you read that headline correctly. While an eyewear brand opening a hospitality-based retail experience and natural wine bar might be unusual, the results are unexpectedly beautiful. NOLA-based and design-driven brand KREWE has always been unique for its global inspiration and eclecticism, making Maison du KREWE the perfect extension of the thriving brand.

The new multi-purpose creative and communal space, called Maison du KREWE, provides comfortable energy throughout the 6,500 square foot space located in a historic 1800s townhouse, with hospitality always being top of mind. The space is the first of two planned flagships, with the second planned to open in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Founder and creative director Stirling Barrett partnered with interior designer and long-time friend of the brand Olivia Erwin on the location’s design. The result is an elevated shopping experience that fosters conversation and connection. Hand-laid vertical and horizontal ombre plaster walls draw you into the space, while the curved plaster display wall is a natural point of interest. Vintage sconces, seating and lighting fixtures sourced from all across the globe adorn the space, perfectly encapsulating KREWE’s international influence.
The townhome that Maison du KREWE calls home consists of four floors, with the ground level consisting of the store itself, a natural wine bar and the back-of-house area. The top floors house the brand’s NYC headquarters, a satellite product design studio, flexible events space, adjoining guest quarters and a full-service kitchen. The all-important lens cutter and edger used to fulfill Rx prescriptions and a fulfillment center will be kept in the basement, allowing the brand to soon offer same-day NYC delivery.
The natural wine living room on the ground floor is named &HOLIDAY, and sits atop the mezzanine, making it feel separate yet cohesive with the retail space. The name reflects the experience, which is reminiscent of the feeling of being on holiday, where time is fluid and your worries fade. The open flame fireplace provides a focal point, while plush seating keeps guests comfortable while they discover their new favorite natural wine. Discovery is essential to KREWE as a brand, making &HOLIDAY’s adventurous program, curated by wine director Toussaint Stackhouse, a natural extension. Stackhouse is a Harlem native and will bring expertise honed in some of NYC’s finest natural wine destinations, such as Place des Fetes and June, to &HOLIDAY.
Watch this space, as KREWE will undoubtedly unveil can't-miss community engagements and activations in the coming months. Located at 67 Gansevoort, Maison du KREWE is now open.
