Fashion is their passion....and these gents prove that personality is the secrete to all that panache.
The Queens-born designer worn by the likes of luminaries including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian shares a quick style sketch.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SENSE OF STYLE? I think my personal style is a bit different than the idea of how I design. When it comes to dressing myself, I’m all about keeping it simple and classic. I think the one thing in common between how I dress myself and design my collection is that I always want to keep it sexy. But when I think of sexy for my personal style, I don’t necessarily mean tight clothes or mesh tops. To me personally, sexy also resembles a great figure and making sure that certain colors work for my skin tone. I recently started training in Equinox’s Tier X, a lifestyle management program with a uniquely holistic approach to high-performance living, that’s helped me to improve and maintain a figure I’m proud of. Chocolate, black and navy are my favorite colors—I just think navy represents financial stability and is the new black.
“I love ReVive’s contouring roller, Dr. Barbara Sturm’s face cream and Loops masks when I’m feeling extra dry or stressed,” Smith shares.
AT THE MOMENT... I’m really loving and embracing young designers right now. I don’t have a favorite, but I’m always very inspired by what they’re doing. I truly believe students and emerging designers are the future of fashion.
MY SIGNATURE LOOK IS... I love a body-con T-shirt. In the summer I’ll wear it with a short and either a boot or slide. And in the winter, I’ll layer underneath a blazer or a coat with a chunky boot. Coats are a staple in the winter and always complete the look. I’m also always in a high-waist pant, either flared denim or trousers. They make me look slim and long, and I love the ’70s reference.
“My signature scent is Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat,” he says; “My favorite shoe is the Bottega Veneta Tire boot. For me, fashion is always about keeping it sexy and comfortable.”
WHAT’S NOW AND NEXT FOR YOU? We’re always working on new projects and partnerships. Right now I’m really excited to be working with Puma as I’ve always had an interest in expanding into active-wear.
