Located on Fifth Avenue, the hotel takes cues from the European-born brand’s mid-century modern design aesthetic, resulting in 21 stories of gorgeous architecture. Think 165 beautifully styled guest rooms outfitted with bespoke details and luxurious finishes alongside 17 apartment-style residences perfect for longer stays.
The hotel’s exteriors prove to be just as impressive thanks to the handiwork of Gene Kaufman Architect. The hotel’s light-colored masonry façade and grid of windows featuring dark railings perfectly juxtapose traditional elements and a modern flair. Paul Vega and Vennie Lau of New Jersey-based design studio VLDG are responsible for the timelessly chic interiors. The design pays homage to the NoMad neighborhood, which was dominated by the textile mercantile trade in the 30th century. Bold geometric patterns, contrasting colors and textured fabrics are infused with iconic New York City cultural elements for a uniquely metropolitan experience. Curated artwork throughout the lobby, including a luminous acrylic wall sculpture, a textile column that merges units of color and patchwork to create a patterned field, and a scale map printed on a wood acoustic wall, gives the space an immersive feel.
The guest rooms are inspired by the city itself, with the brand’s signature mid-century modernism serving as the design avenue. Custom murals depict a map of Manhattan, including connecting waterways. A color palette of shades of grey and blue with pink accents creates a cohesive aesthetic and the perfect backdrop for notable amenities. Six of the rooms have walk-out terraces, while every room boasts the Le Méridien signature bed, MALIN+GOETZ bath products, 4K smart TVs, an elevated desk inspired by higher surfaces used by creative individuals and more.
On the ground floor, the Le Méridien Hub serves as the focal point of the hotel’s public spaces. The gathering place is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional hotel lobby, complete with custom-brewed, barista-crafted coffee beverages during the day and sparkling cocktails in the evening at the signature Latitude/Longitude Bar. The grounding restaurant, Allora serves seasonally inspired, regional Italian aperitivi and fare including its signature Miller’s Wife Pasta all day long.
Guests also have access to a world-class complimentary 24-hour health club with Life Fitness equipment, in-room dining and more. Perhaps best of all? The hotel’s location on Fifth Avenue between West 30th and West 31st. Some of the city’s most notable sights, including Empire State and Flatiron buildings, the NoMad district, Herald Square, and the famed Fifth Avenue shopping is all at guests’ fingertips. Reservations are available here.
