Sexual dysfunction can appear in women of all ages and in many forms. Low sex drive is the most prevalent, affecting an estimated 26.7% of premenopausal women and 52.4% of naturally menopausal women. For many women, low libido can cause distress, insecurity and even physical discomfort, prompting open-ended questions like, “What’s wrong with me?”
Christine Ruggiero, a multi-Liquivida wellness center franchisee, believes every woman should feel good in her own body. The Liquivida brand has always focused on feeling great from the inside out, and sexual wellness is a big part of that equation.
“I believe that as a society, we’ve grown accustomed to reacting rather than being proactive about our health. It’s not uncommon for women to put their needs on the back burner in order to put out fires everywhere else. One of the reasons I opened three Liquivida franchises after a 30-year career in nursing is because of their in-depth focus and knowledge on women’s health concerns.“

What are the symptoms of low sex drive in women?
Low sex drive refers to the lack of desire for sexual activity. This extends to sexual thoughts and fantasies. It also includes having difficulty enjoying or finding pleasure in sex.
Libido levels can vary from woman to woman, and sometimes the shift is only temporary, with no cause for concern; however, if there’s been a steep decline in sexual desire and a feeling that something is off for an extended period, it could be HSDD (Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder), which is treatable.
According to study by the International Society of the Study of Women’s Health:
Symptoms [of HSDD] include lack or loss of motivation to participate in sexual activity due to absent or decreased spontaneous desire, sexual desire in response to erotic cues or stimulation, or the ability to maintain desire or interest through sexual activity for at least 6 months with accompanying distress.
What causes low sex drive in women?
A woman’s body is constantly changing, so it’s no surprise that the level of sexual desire can fluctuate, too. According to the Mayo Clinic, the causes of low sex drive (or libido) can be grouped into four categories: Physical, Hormonal, Psychological and Relational
Physical | Hormonal | Psychological | Relationship |
Sexual Problems | Menopause | Mental health problems | Lack of connection with your partner |
Medical Diseases | Pregnancy and breastfeeding | Stress poor body image | Unresolved conflicts or fights |
Medications | Low self-esteem | Poor communcation of sexual needs and preferences
Lifestyle Habits | History of physical or sexual abuse | Trust Issues
Surgery | Previous negative sexual experiences |

Can low sex drive in women be improved?
Yes, it can! At Liquivida, licensed medical professionals are available to assess the needs of each individual client, so they can uncover the root cause of low sex drive and treat it at its source. For some women, this may include medication taken before sexual activity. For others, HRT (hormone replacement therapy) is a better fit. It depends on the unique needs of each individual client.
“At Liquivida, treating the whole person is our top priority.
