Manfred Thierry Mugler was a French fashion designer, creative director, and advisor of the avant-garde couture label, Mugler.
Gaining traction in the ’70s, Manfred launched his own fashion house which put his name on the map in the world of Haute Couture.
The visionary was known for his theatrical adaptions of couture, his futuristic boundary-pushing designs, and his incredible blending of architecture, pop culture, and fashion.
The House released a statement stating, "It is with deep sadness that the House of Mugler announces the passing of Mr. Manfred Thierry Mugler on Sunday 23rd, 2022. A visionary whose imagination as a couturier, perfumer, and image-maker empowered people around the world to be bolder and dream bigger every day."
Mugler wasn’t just a designer, he was a creative genius.
He reimagined the way we see the world, on and off the runway.
He wasn’t afraid to take risks that defied the limits of Haute Couture.
He was responsible for reframing the lens through which we view sexuality.
“This is a moment of deep emotion and great sadness for the teams at the Maison Mugler," said Sandrine Groslier, Global President of Mugler Fashion & Fragrance.
"In the nearly 30 years of collaboration, I remember him as a genius who revolutionized the world of fashion, fragrances, photography, and staging. An artist for whom the limit was no limit. An exceptionally talented, visionary, and inclusive genius. Beyond being a creator with infinite energy and a boundless sense of creativity, I wish above all to pay tribute to the sensitive, generous, and sincere man. We are thinking today of all those who, like us, love him and have lost their star.”
Manfred not only left his mark on the industry but created a lasting impression on our cultural fabric as a whole.
Dressing A-list celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé, and Cardi B, Mugler has touched the lives and hearts of the most influential names in Hollywood.
