Two New York City favorites have collaborated on something totally delicious. Cult Matcha purveyors, MatchaBar and everyone’s favorite it-ice cream Van Leeuwen have come together to create a limited edition flavor that’s both irresistibly delicious and in celebration of something wonderful: Earth Day!
In celebration of Earth Day, MatchaBar has partnered with Van Leeuwen to create the latest seasonal flavor, Vegan Green Planet, vibrant green and blue combo designed to look like planet earth. The vegan ice cream base (raw cashew milk, coconut cream, raw organic coconut oil, pure cocoa butter, and organic cane sugar) is made with MatchaBar’s ceremonial grade matcha and features house-made blue spirulina almond cake folded throughout. The special flavor is available at all locations of Van Leeuwen until May 7.
Brothers Max and Graham Fortgang founded MatchaBar in 2014, establishing the first matcha cafe in the country. Two years later, they launched the world’s first ceremonial grade bottled matcha. With cafes in New York and Los Angeles and the MatchaFam behind them, the brothers embarked on a mission to share better energy with the world.
Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream was founded in the Spring of 2008 out of a yellow truck on the streets of NYC. The team set out to revive the classic American ice cream truck and the art of traditional ice cream using ingredients perfected by nature, not science. Van Leeuwen Classic and Vegan ice creams are made with just a handful of fresh ingredients. Each flavor is a celebration of some of the world’s best artisan producers and farmers both local and from around the world. All of their ice cream is made from scratch in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
