Max Mara cruise 2025 collection
For its cruise collection hitting stores now, Max Mara (maxmara.com) went to Venice to show its stellar lineup. That might not seem like a far-flung location for the famously Italian brand, however, we were transported to Palazzo Ducale, otherwise known as the Doge’s Palace, for the first fashion show ever staged inside the Gothic masterpiece of architecture. True to form, the collection lived up to the historical surroundings by offering looks that were stripped away of any unnecessary encumbrances, with nods to Fortuny fabrics and Jacquards mimicking Byzantine mosaics, 18th century touches and elegant braids that were delicately decorated with pearls. The styling of heavily tasseled silk belts was a sophisticated finishing touch that also spoke to the importance of Marco Polo’s intersection of the Far East and Western worlds.
