Fans and industry elite waited with baited breath to see what the Houston rapper and fashion idol would be wearing. Indeed, she came through dripping on the 2022 Met Gala red carpet, drenched in silky, flashy gold fabric from head to toe, courtesy of designer Jeremy Scott, head of the legendary Moschino.
The look may be all gold, but it channels a bit of Mercury with its winged god-level shoulder display. Megan is the perfect picture of the beautiful gilded female sculpture that might grace the side of a gilded age skyscraper.
The theme for the evening was “gilded glamour,” representing the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new exhibit "In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” and in that, the artist and her designer most certainly hit the mark.
When it comes to style, Megan really is the “Sweetest Pie,” but her music is what keeps fans attention. The rapper recently dropped her latest single “Plan B,” a hard-hitting reminder that she may be a pop star, but she can still drop bombs for bars over a silky funk-inspired beat.
Her debut album Good News came out the gate hard, landing on nine best of the year lists, topping the Billboard Top R&B and Hip-Hop Albums chart as well as reaching No. 2 on the Billboard 200. She even earned a remix from Beyonce, the queen of all Houston icons.
