TOMME Studio’s, a streetwear brand famous for their basketball-shaped bags, is collaborating with Space Jam: A New Legacy! Dropped today, this iconic collection will feature TOMME’s signature 3.0 Basketball Bags boasting the characters of the Space Jam squad.
TOMME and Space Jam compliment each other perfectly, as both brands are centered around basketball and streetwear culture.
TOMME celebrates a blended vision of masculinity and femininity in its range of handcrafted basketball bags. Transforming an item rooted in a male-dominated sport into an individual, unisex piece of art, each TOMME bag boldly and confidently expresses a fused male and female aesthetic.
The 3.0 Basketball bag was created in early 2016. Paying homage to her own love of the game—both as a fan and player—TOMME’s founder and designer, Kelly Gunner, sources unique basketballs from all over the world and reinterprets each design as a statement-making accessory.
Intricately constructed by Gunner by hand, the curated range of bags present a forward-looking design.
TOMME’s mission statement is to connect feminine and masculine together and ultimately create items that make people, of all genders, feel empowered and confident when they wear them.
“I knew that I wanted the pieces to have a 'pop art' feel and to take inspiration from brands like Moschino. I'm a huge fan of the original film also, so wanted something that had a retro 90s feel to it, yet felt fresh and captured the excitement of a new film. Who doesn't love Lebron and Bugs Bunny,” says Gunner when talking about her inspiration for the collaboration.
“I was initially approached by Warner Bros. about the collaboration to come on board as a potential partner. It was really exciting to be considered for such a small business, as there are brands such as Nike, Spalding, ASOS, Snipes, X-box, Footlocker etc all involved as merchandise partners, so to be alongside brands such as those is amazing for TOMME. It’s a huge honor for a brand like mine to be involved in such a mainstream event.”
Gunner's up-and-coming streetwear brand inspires other small businesses to dream big.
