Explore NYC’s hottest new shops this season.
Rowing Blazers
In addition to the brand’s colorful collections, Rowing Blazers also offers vintage selects, magazines and books in its recently opened flagship.
New York-based clothing retailer Rowing Blazers opened a new flagship on the Lower East Side—the brand’s first opening since the pandemic forced the original Grand Street location to shut down.
The preppy label is the brainchild of Jack Carlson, creative director and former member of the U.S. rowing national team. “Opening this store marks the beginning of a new chapter for Rowing Blazers as a brand,” says Carlson. “But it’s also a continuation of how we started five years ago.
The reception we had when we opened our first pop-up on the same block several years ago blew me away.” The vibrant shop carries additional labels under Carlson’s direction including Arthur Ashe, Warm & Wonderful and Gyles & George, as well as vintage clothing and accessories. 8 Rivington St.
Printemps
The facade of 1 Wall Street
French luxury department store Printemps is embarking on its debut U.S. venture with a two-story flagship in the Financial District. “We think we can bring something unique, both to its engaged local consumer base and the strong tourist flows the city welcomes,” says Printemps Groupe CEO Jean-Marc Bellaiche.
Sketches of the forthcoming Printemps location offer a glimpse of what New Yorkers can expect from the French brand.
Floor-to-ceiling mosaics in the historic Red Room at 1 Wall Street will be one of many highlights of the store. Laura Gonzalez, who reimagined the Saint James Hotel in Paris last year and earned her spot on Architectural Digest Italy’s top 100 designers in 2022, is spearheading the project to fuse French and New York influences throughout the 54,365-square-foot space set to open in 2024. 1 Wall St.
Altuzarra
Altuzarra’s new Madison Avenue shop
Luxury women’s clothing and accessories label Altuzarra recently debuted a new boutique on Madison Avenue. Founder Joseph Altuzarra designed the store in conjunction with artist Matthew Fisher as a calm, clean space with earth tones and organic flourishes throughout, including custom wooden displays, iron racks and two green marble sculptures by Fisher.
“We wanted customers to feel that they are moving within an extension of Altuzarra’s home rather than a commercial space,” says Fisher. “Upon entering you are greeted by a central lounge, which the offerings of Altuzarra encircle, giving you the autonomy to move through the space toward what catches your eye.” 959 Madison Ave.
Cartier

An enhanced customer experience is the cornerstone of the long-awaited, recently completed renovation of Cartier’s Fifth Avenue boutique. “The Mansion is an iconic address of the maison,” says architectural designer Laura Gonzalez. “Our ambition was to bring a new dynamic while respecting its past and preserving its soul.”
Cartier’s signature panther is incorporated throughout the store in stone marquetry, mosaics and other forms. An additional portrait on the second floor depicts the double-strand pearl necklace famously traded by Pierre Cartier for the flagship in 1917. The boutique houses a private dining room for VIP clients, multiple lounges, holographic displays, virtual reality experiences and more. 653 Fifth Ave.
L’OBJET
L’OBJET’s new boutique is pure eye candy.
Upon entering L’OBJET’s newly opened store on Madison Avenue, guests are greeted by an array of playful characters that make up the lifestyle retailer’s collaboration with sculptors the Haas Brothers. Continuing past monster salad bowls, horned box and plate sets and unicorn candles, customers will reach the apothecary bar, where they can test a variety of L’OBJET’s signature fragrances.
The brand’s founder, Elad Yifrach
“The emphasis on L’OBJET’s home fragrance and apothecary offerings builds on our goal to touch all the five senses,” says founder Elad Yifrach. “We work with only the finest, premium-grade ingredients for our signature scents, and we want customers to experience the difference, which will be immediate and strikingly noticeable.” 950 Madison Ave.
