REMBAUM HANAU

British and French designers Sharon Rembaum and Cécile Hanau debuted their 1,200-squarefoot, European-inspired vintage furniture gallery and design studio, Rembaum Hanau, in the heart of Tribeca. Providing bespoke art, antique and design curation services, as well as full scope interior design services, the design studio showcases a curated collection of iconic furniture from the 20th century, as well as contemporary European, American and Japanese pieces by esteemed artists like Alexandra Kohl and Richard Haining. Rembaum is no stranger to high-design elements, and, specializing in European decor, Hanau brings a tasteful eye, which she developed through work with architects and private clients. With the launch of its first east coast location, artisanal showroom JAMES has planted roots in a 4,000-square-foot showroom at the Interior Arts Building in the Upper East Side design district. Showcasing luxurious fabric, wallpapers, lighting, furniture and rug lines, JAMES represents the work of world-class artists and designers. Owner and founder Meredith Ellis began her design career in the same building 25 years ago when working for designer Bunny Williams. “I feel very much at home [and] in such good company,” she says of the full-circle moment. Adds Hunter Ellis, owner and director of operations, “We have strong ties with the east coast, and we could not be more excited to bring our business model and the JAMES Showroom experience to New York.
