Author, director, producer and influencer Nina Whittington-Cooper knows how to write her own style script. “I believe you can always take any outfit and add a few accessories or change the hemline and make it your own,” she says. Currently, Whittington-Cooper is penning what is sure to be the hottest book to hit bedsides from the West Village to Water Mill this season. “At the moment I’m writing a book about managing the challenges, joy and pain of house guests,” she shares. We polled the stylish scribe for a page from her playbook.
How would you describe your sense of style?
I describe my sense of style as sexy with a touch of edgy. I try not to take myself too seriously. I wear clothes that make me feel good.
What is your fashion mantra?
My fashion mantra is always show some skin and play up your best attributes whether it is legs, shoulders... I always love off-the-shoulder anything.
Favorite NYC store for clothes: Bergdorf Goodman always has a great variety from all the designers. They have a great selection of shoes. I also love Gucci. They have a fabulous flagship store in the city, and wherever I am in the world, I always stop by a Gucci boutique. They always have something fabulous.
For accessories: I love vintage stores. You can always find something unexpected and unique to add to your wardrobe.
For beauty and skincare: I take my skincare regimen very seriously. I am a product junkie! At the moment, I’m loving the Dr. Barbara Sturm product line for dark-tone skin and it’s amazing. The key to healthy skin is to always wear sunblock!
For the home: Collette Home is my favorite. You can always find great pieces to add to your home decor. I love Sheila Bridges. She has a great home decor line and amazing wallpaper, Harlem Toile... It’s my latest obsession.
