Olivia Rodrigo hit pause on the music for a night of fashion.
Trading in her signature punk princess style for elegance, the pop star arrived in a slinky, head-to-toe sparkling Versace gown complete with sheer lavender gloves and magnificent dangling earrings. To compliment the dress’ silver-lilac hue, Rodrigo opted for a reflective, but deep purple eyeshadow and glistening heels.
“We were inspired by the opulence of the Gilded Age,” Rodrigo told Vogue livestream host Vanessa Hudgens, who applauded the 19-year-old’s unfolding relationship with Donatella Versace.
“She's the sweetest,” Rodrigo said. “It is actually her birthday today… I just think she's such a genius and she's also the sweetest angel, so I feel very lucky to be working with her.”
Adding a youthful flair, she decorated her cascading brunette waves with butterflies— even further symbolizing her evolution from singer to fashion star.
Rodrigo also revealed to Hudgens that she is currently working on her sophomore album.
“I'm constantly writing and I just want to make sure it's right,” she said.
Rodrigo’s appearance marks her second round as a Met Gala attendee. Following up her outstanding debut with Sour May 2021, she walked the red carpet for fashion’s biggest night later that fall.
Currently, Rodrigo is on her first tour in support of Sour. A notoriously hard ticket to buy, her concerts have seen hordes of early aughts fashion (and a whole lot of purple) and a number of special guests, including BFF and musical peer Conan Gray and Avril Lavigne.
