New food hall and marketplace Olly Olly Market is coming to Manhattan's largest and premier commercial landmark property, the Starrett-Lehigh Building.
Opening tomorrow, the 17,000 square-foot space will occupy the ground floor and feature both up-and-coming local chefs as well as internationally recognized and Michelin-starred chefs, including Noah Sandoval and Jiho Kim. Award-winning Julia Momosé will lead the beverage program for the market's two cocktail bars.
This will be the first New York endeavor for Chicago-based hospitality collective 16” on Center, which is behind Chicago's most frequented restaurants, bars and entertainment venues.
Located at 601 W. 26th Street, Olly Olly Market will feature international cuisine alongside craft cocktails, beverages and a coffee bar. Cuisines include a fast-casual Italian rotisserie, Sicilian-style pan pizzas, Mexican street foods and a scallion pancake burrito. DdoBar by Joomak Banjum, a new concept by Jiho Kim and Kelly Nam featuring an interactive chef’s counter and to-go menu of customizable Yubu, will be one of the many talented vendors.
Bar Avant is a focal point upon entry, surrounded by 22 bar seats and seated tables that can accommodate up to 60 people. Art abounds with a massive installation made of sculpted wood and pops of colorful graphics framing the vendor booths created by Chicago artist Juan Angel Chávez. Additional multimedia art pieces by fine artist Jeremiah Jones have been installed throughout the space, and the office entrance is adorned with a tilework mural by Tre' and Matt Jorgensen of C'mon Home.
Hidden within the market lies Apres Bar, providing the perfect venue for private events. There is also a 5,000-square-foot exhibition space, which is currently featuring the "Jean-Michael Basquiat: King Pleasure" exhibit. Future plans for the event space, which can accommodate up to 500 people, include concerts, fashion shows, installations and more. Tickets can be reserved here.
