Few things are more iconic than a New York City deli. These quick and easy food spots have transcended their original purpose to become true cultural and social hubs.
It’s a right of passage for every New Yorker to find and be accepted by their local neighborhood deli, and in honor of these steady and reliable go-tos, Rag & Bone launches an exclusive pop-up partnership with Nordstrom that highlights the NYC deli and brings its emblematic character to life.
Open now through June 5 on the ground floor of Nordstrom's New York flagship store, Rag & Bone has created an immersive NYC experience to be amplified via 10 select Nordstrom retail locations and the Nordstrom website.
Rag & Bone commissioned local artists to create the perfect deli ambiance right from the moment you walk in the store. The exterior mural of a roll up gate—one of the tentpoles of a deli facade—was painted by Timothy Goodman, a muralist who previously contributed to Rag & Bone’s popular wall on Houston and Elizabeth Streets. The store is filled with real sunflower seeds, beef jerky, kettle chips and other deli snacks, as well as Rag & Bone-branded newspaper stacks, bringing attention to even the smallest details.
Guests will be treated to a series of live and digitally-led programming, including some how-to cooking videos that reinterpret deli favorites from Chef Esther Choi of Mokbar, FlipSigi Owner and Food Network Host Jordan Andino, and Let’s Eat author Zaynab Issa.
Of course, customers can grab all the latest Rag & Bone and Nordstrom fashions, but the deli motif runs more than skin deep. The companies have committed $25,000 to the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation to benefit the Restaurant Workers COVID-19 Crisis Relief Fund. The organization provides much needed aid to restaurant workers and industry non-profits, as well as zero-interest loans to restaurants to get them back up and running.
Much like a deli is part of the staple of our city, Rag & Bone wants to help those restaurants that kept their lights on for hungry New Yorkers all of last year and reward their commitment to the city.
