What defines success? While some may argue that it is something pertaining to gaining money, the truth is that success lies in balance and peace of mind. Both of these principles are reflected by Angels Among Us Reiki (@angelsamongusreiki), run by Carol Robinson, and Two Peacocks (@twopeacockss), run by William McGirr (@william_mcgirr).
Angels Among us Reiki’s organization is a one-person job, with Carol involved in the daily administration of the studio. Yet, it has managed to profoundly help many individuals find their purpose and direction in life through self-introspection, meditation, and the application of reiki techniques. Carol shows us that people are the core part of reiki.
Valuing People as People
A good reiki studio doesn’t see visitors as customers, but rather as souls searching for meaning and their place in the cosmos. Carol's approach is more about giving value to visitors through the life experiences that she offers them. The location she's chosen is serene, and Angels Among Us Reiki is a perfect spot for a busy individual to come to meditate. Situated a 20-minute drive from the city limits in Garson, Manitoba, it's close enough for a casual visit, yet far enough away not to be bothered by the noise and stress of the city. This separation is a core facet of the studio's approach. To find oneself, one must leave the world behind, not just metaphorically, but physically as well.
Empowering Oneself
William McGirr, owner and primary Naturopathic practitioner of Two Peacocks, looks at humanity through its value. He believes in the value of the individual above all and helps others to see their value in themselves. The #FreeYourPeacock hashtag is a perfect example of his reiki perspective. His methods aren’t what most people who do reiki are used to, but they are effective in helping people uncover their hidden selves. William looks at the human experience as the greatest teacher. As someone who struggled to find his place in the world, he only knew what he wanted when he faced the realities of who he was as a person. Today, his advice is to learn from one’s failures. There’s no such thing as a true failure, but rather a chance to learn how to be better.
Looking at the Future
Angels Among Us Reiki is already looking at offering more to visitors. Carol intends to renovate the upper portion of the barn to create a larger yoga studio for visitors. Additionally, she plans to add cabins to have students live on the property to get the maximum value from the location. The ponds, pathways, and backdrop all allow for deep meditation. Carol understands that the property has energy within it that helps students find their balance. Her expansion plans are in keeping with sharing the serenity and promise of the place with as many students as possible. Her core mission has always been to ensure her clients' well-being, and in this regard, she's done an excellent job. The future already looks bright for Angels Among Us Reiki.
As for Two Peacocks, William McGirr’s goal is to continue helping others, supporting communities and people in need of healing. “To share my Truths, experiences, and passions for life, to shine a light for those brave enough to seek love and gratitude within themselves,” he explains.
