Roger Federer kept it classy and subdued at the 2023 Met Gala in celebration of "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," but still looked sharp nonetheless. Clad in a sleek black tuxedo, bow tie and Karl Lagerfeld-esque shades by Oliver Peoples, the record-holding former professional tennis player honored the iconic Karl black-and-white look enveloped in mystery. The shades weren't the only accessory to make a cameo on his silhoutte—the Rolex Perpetual 1908 was spotted on his wrist in all of its white-gold glory, the signature finishing detail.
Federer touched on the perks of the retired athlete life with red carpet host La La Anthony, noting that it's been nice to enjoy a social life and time with his family. However, life has still been very busy for the tennis star, who added that he's "surprised how much has been going on." Federer returned to the Met Gala for the first time since 2017, this time as a co-chair alongside personal friend and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
Federer was certainly in good company tonight. Former world number one tennis player Andy Roddick and Italian tennis talent Matteo Berrettini also made appearances on the red carpet to support the late fashion designer, not to mention Serena Williams who announced her second pregnancy with Alexis Ohanian while making her way into the museum.
