Skidz, the legacy streetwear brand known for plaid drawstring pants from the 80’s and 90’s, is back. Beginning January 11, Skidz will be available exclusively at Opening Ceremony stores in New York and the Ace Hotel in New York and Los Angeles, as well as online.

The pre-spring 2019 collection consists of a variety of plaid, 2-ply, drawstring pants, plaid hoodies modeled after the original 1989 hoodie, original slippery-when-wet logo t-shirts, sweatshirts and a handful of graphic t-shirts. The re-launch collection is a direct evolution from where Skidz left off in 90’s. Core elements of the collection are different style plaids, an oversized loose-fit, and most importantly the essence of “fun”. And just like back in the day, Skidz is still made in the US—more specifically, in New York.

Skidz was founded by Rick Fayer in New York City in 1987. The drawstring pant was known for comfort and came in colorful plaids and prints. Skidz and the slippery-when-wet road sign became a signature of street culture. Celebrities like DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince (Will Smith), Dr. Dre and Ed Lover of Yo! MTV Raps, Jack Nicholson as the Joker in Batman, and Vanilla Ice all wore Skidz. Skidz went on to become an iconic lifestyle brand that has come to define an era of American fashion and culture.
