Healthy Holiday Tips From a [Solidcore] Pro Coach

The holiday season is in full swing and that means parties, food and plenty of drinks! The temptation is everywhere and indulging happens - as it should. But just because you’re hitting the party circuit, doesn’t mean you have to totally throw health out the window. We chatted to Jacob Griffin, Pro Coach at [solidcore] for some Holiday tips! “Temptations run high around the holidays whether it be the sweets in the office break-room or the free-flowing booze at holiday parties, this isn’t a reason to treat the weeks between Thanksgiving and New Years as a wash. It’s important to stick to your health and fitness routines and find balance in times of indulgence. You should never feel the need to "earn" your treats, but remaining in integrity with your commitments to your mind and body allows you to feel your best.”

“Be diligent about prioritizing your workouts. If you know you have a commitment during the time you normally would workout, book an earlier class time. It may be rough getting out of bed early in the AM, especially if you’re not a morning person, but starting your day off with the good sweat session will not only energize you but will also keep you on a healthier track for the day. The holidays can be a stressful time for both mind and body, exercising releases endorphins that can help improve mood and overall sense of wellbeing.”

“If you’re traveling, be sure to look up if your favorite workout has studios in other cities. [solidcore] currently has 41 studios across 14 states. It’s a great way to stay on your game and meet other people who are probably just as obsessed about the workout as you are. If there aren't any options where you're headed, ask your coach or instructor ahead of time about some quick at home exercises you can do in your hotel room or in Mom and Dad's living room.”

“Balance can look different for different people on different days. Remain present to how you feel and take some time to pay extra attention to the signals your body is sending you. Recovery days and treats are just as important as a tough workout sesh on [sweatlana], it is all a part of finding your own balance that helps you feel strong and happy through the holiday season. Sometimes you just gotta #eatthedamncookie!”
