A new store is coming to the city, and style fiends are in for a treat.
LA-based clothing brand Staud just opened its first brick and mortar in New York City. Sitting at 45 Greene Street, the new location lands in the prime shopping neighborhood of SoHo.
The Los Angeles-based brand was founded in 2015 by Sarah Staudinger and George Augusto, and has since become a favorite among luxury style seekers who like a little edge with their glam.
The Soho location marks Staud’s first foray into the Big Apple. The space was designed by Tommy Clements of Clements Design.
"Opening this store feels completely surreal,” Staudinger says in the press release. “I am so proud of my team, and (honored) that Tommy and Clements Design could bring the physical vision of Staud to life in New York in a permanent way as it is a defining moment for our brand.”
The store features bright and bold color blocking to take each guest on a journey throughout the store. The two-story space is covered with velvet upholstery and draperies, along with different color progressions as you move further into the building.
The space itself is a work of art with a mix of vintage and custom furniture. The vintage pieces include a 1950s Swedish entry table and a 1970s Swedish pine stool. You can also find handmade ceramics and blown glass throughout the space.
“I always see the influence of art in everything she creates,” Clements says. “Her collections and spaces always feel worldly and elevated. I wanted the Soho store to be a reflection of all of those things.”
The vintage feel of the store flows directly into the capsule collection Staud launched just in time for the holiday season. From sequin mini-dresses to feathers and gowns, the line compliments the stores’ new space. The store carries this seasonal capsule collection along with a full collection of ready-to-wear items and accessories.
