Bec Donlan is a woman on the move. The Australian entrepreneur and fitness guru is taking New York City by storm, one CBD chocolate and booty band at a time! The workout queen is everywhere - teaching classes, working on holistic health goals and building her brand. Up next is the very Instagrammable Rose CBD chocolates, just in time for Valentine’s Day!
Congratulations on the new product - tell us about it!
BEC DONLAN: Thank you, we're so excited! Back when I first started dabbling in making chocolates, I only used to make rose flavor (yes I'm obsessed) for my friends and clients so to be able to officially launch it with our brand, @GoBasic, is a dream. Our chocolate is raw, vegan, gluten-free, organic, paleo so it ticks all those millennial boxes. The chocolates come two per serving and each piece contains 5 mg of CBD, and you can find them here. I have to say this might be our favorite flavor yet!
Who is your Valentine this year?
BD: Oh gosh, I guess you could say I'm currently taking applications for one but I guess you could also say it's my main man @cashew_the_pom.
What's been the most exciting part of building your brand?
BD: To be honest, it’s been a whirlwind and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm extremely lucky in that my business partner, Jil Larsen, is a true work-wifey, which makes the endless late nights spent recipe testing and copywriting a lot less painful and dare I say fun (probably why I'm single!). But the most exciting part is ultimately seeing it blow up on Instagram from people all over the country and hearing people's feedback saying it's helped them sleep better, cope with pain, and helped with their anxiety.
Can you tell us a little bit about your method and how you integrate bands into every workout?
BD: My main thing is to believe in the attainable, to set realistic goals, and to always recognize that every person’s body is different. My classes are a full body workout with a focus on the booty. It is a mix of cardio and toning while using my SWB booty bands to increase your heart rate, activate those glutes, strengthen those arms and abs and up the ante on some of your fav booty moves so you are feeling the burn! At the end of every class and session, I wind the class down with a booty band stretch series to lengthen your body after a solid sweat.
What are some of your favorite healthy spots in NYC?
BD: Magic Mix Juicery (next to my apartment!), Butchers Daughter, Hu Kitchen, and Ruby's.
You are clearly a globe-trotter based on your Instagram, what is your #1 wellness travel hack?
BD: Fasting is so key! I used to suffer from killer jet lag, migraines, not being able to go to the bathroom properly and constantly feeling nauseous. It used to last for days on arriving to a new location which was a total buzz kill. So after some research, I read that fasting helps and, my God, it was a game-changer. My pre-flight routine is to eat a big meal 2 hours before, then have an edible right before boarding the plane to keep me chill, drink a gallon of water while in the air, then after landing, try not to eat for another two hours and I swear it works! Trust me, I'm from Australia so long-haul flights are my jam.
What are you most excited about for 2019?
BD: LITERALLY EVERYTHING! I feel like 2018 was the year to build strong foundations and this is the year we are all going to crush it! And yes, this means many more GoBasic products to come.
