HONORING AN ICON
Runway ensemble, Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, spring/summer 2019.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art revealed a special exhibit featuring the work of German-born designer Karl Lagerfeld, focusing on his methodology with approximately 150 pieces on display accompanied by his sketches. The museum announced the exhibit in Paris in September 2022 with Andrew Bolton, curator in charge of the Costume Institute. “The exhibition will explore Lagerfeld’s complex working methodology, tracing the evolution of his fashions from the two-dimensional to the three-dimensional,” says Bolton. “The fluid lines of his sketches found expression in recurring aesthetic themes in his fashions, uniting his designs for Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel and his eponymous label, Karl Lagerfeld, creating a diverse and prolific body of work unparalleled in the history of fashion.” May 5-July 16, 1000 Fifth Ave., Floor 2

FLOWER POWER
With spring in full swing and Mother’s Day just around the corner, the iconic McQueens Flowers’ posh picks make the perfect pick-me-up or gift for Mom this month. The season’s most beautiful stems include fluffy pink peonies, fragrant lilac and jasmine, olive and eucalyptus foliage, and of course roses in a range of blush shades. We love the Tapestry vase arrangement (also available as a bouquet), which showcases a gorgeous selection of early summer whites and greens, fragrant rosemary, oregano and bay foliage, with white peonies interwoven with shades of white roses and Solomon’s seal—all presented in an elegant frosted white vase. 120 W. 28th St.
ITALIAN FLAIR
Florence-born and raised artist Ippolita Rostagno founded Ippolita in 1999 aft er realizing she couldn’t find any fine jewelry that could be worn every day. Rostagno’s background in sculpture lends itself perfectly to jewelry design, and she soon found success with her signature organic silhouettes and sculpted forms that have an unmistakable style. The brand has now expanded to open a Madison Avenue flagship boutique, doubling the square footage of its previous space. “It’s a very private snapshot of my interior life, and that’s what makes it fun. The idea is to elicit curiosity; I want people to ask themselves, ‘What is this collection of objects?’” shares Rostagno of the 1,026-square-foot Madison Avenue location. “You can tell that all these things belong together, but it could be enjoyable to explore the history of each piece.” 721 Madison Ave.

DAZZLING BY DESIGN
Briony Raymond, the fine jewelry atelier known for its bespoke and limited-edition designs, unveiled a new location in the iconic Fuller Building that combines the artistic talents of Paris-based interior designers Micky Hurley and Malu Edwards. Raymond drew inspiration from her roots for this undeniably chic space filled with antique textiles, custom gilded de Gournay wallpaper and 18th and 19th century furniture. “My grandmother grew up in Shanghai, and my mother was born in Beijing. She met my father in Africa, and they later moved to the Middle East before landing in the United States,” she says. “Both of my parents are avid collectors, so I spent my entire life surrounded by beautiful art and furniture from each place they settled in or traveled to. This diverse range of aesthetics had a strong influence on my design sense, and imbued a love for colors, texture and layering that is integrated throughout the atelier.” 595 Madison Ave.
