USONIA Debuts Inaugural Collection Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright

USONIA, a womenswear ready to wear brand at the intersection of fashion and architecture, recently introduced the inaugural capsule collection: USONIA 1.

Influenced by the modernist design principle: "form follows function," USONIA 1 presents an assortment of dress silhouettes designed with modularity in mind. The collection proposes a modern take on that of the mid century ensemble dress, by offering a set of fifteen styles that can be easily reinvented throughout a woman's day.

The rich fabric selection of USONIA 1 ranges from a wrinkle resistant mohair wool to a sunburst pleated Egyptian cotton that can be seen overlaid with sheer qualities like silk chiffon and cotton silk voile. Vintage inspired small buttons freckle down the back of the pieces, adding a touch of impractical femininity. Every material is chosen as an opportunity to tell a story, always working with elements from and for ethical sourcing.

Certain details from the capsule serve homage to Frank Lloyd Wright; his signature color, the Cherokee Red, is carried throughout several fabric groups, and the Henken dress silhouette references the Flower on a Crannied Wall statue Wright specifically designed for a residence in Illinois.

USONIA launched e-commerce in February 2019 with the Gordon peignoir in Chalk and Nero colorways and the Bachman dress in Nero. The rest of the capsule will be dropping incrementally online throughout the spring starting late February or can be preordered by appointment at USONIA's NYC studio and at their trunk shows.
