From scuba and snorkeling to sailing, golf and tennis, Bermuda offers recreational activities for travelers looking for one-of-a-kind experiences. No matter where you like to get your adrenaline rush, there are plenty of opportunities for excitement in Bermuda. Here are some of our favorites:
If you’re looking for … an underwater adventure
For water fiends and land lovers alike, Bermuda’s clear, blue water has a powerful pull. With more shipwrecks per mile than anywhere else in the world, the island has been listed by National Geographic as an unmissable diving destination. With reefs and wrecks for both diving and snorkeling, the underwater experience in the waters around Bermuda is truly unlike anywhere else on the planet.
If you’re looking for … smooth sailing on the waves
Whether you're ready to cruise or you've been jibing and tacking for decades, you'll want to experience the beauty and thrill of sailing in Bermuda. There’s nothing quite like enjoying the ocean breeze while sipping a signature Bermudian cocktail.
Once you’ve experienced Bermuda sailing yourself, you’ll start to figure out why sailing events like the Bermuda Sail Grand Prix presented by Hamilton Princess and the 35th America's Cup have drawn sailing lovers from around the globe.
If you’re looking for … the thrill of sports (with stunning scenery, to boot!)
If you’re passionate about hitting the greens, there are two Bermuda golf events you shouldn’t miss. First, Bermuda Black Golfer’s Week in October brings together some of the best Black golfers and thought leaders in the world for thrilling play and important discussions about how to drive greater diversity in golf. The following week is the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, which takes place at the world-famous Port Royal Golf Course, and has many of the world’s top golfers planning to attend.
If you’re not on island in October, don’t worry. There are plenty of chances to play on your own. With more courses per square mile than anywhere else in the world, Bermuda is a true golfer's paradise.
If you’re looking for … a match to remember
If you’re more of a tennis player than a golf lover, you’re in luck, too. While golf gets more attention, tennis is a very popular sport on the island – for both locals and visitors. A perfect year-round climate and dozens of scenic, top-notch courts, tennis never goes out of season in Bermuda. The only dilemma is deciding whether to play oceanside and contend with a gentle breeze, or opt for an inland court and then take a dip in the pool.
One fun fact to consider: Bermuda and tennis in the U.S. have a long history. According to the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Mary Ewing Outerbridge, born in Philadelphia to Bermudian parents, first came across the game while visiting her family’s home on the island in 1874. After picking it up, she sailed back to New York with tennis equipment and introduced the sport to Staten Island – a move that earned her the title “the Mother of American Tennis.”
If you’re looking for … a day of relaxation
You'll find plenty of ways to refresh and recharge in Bermuda, from deep-tissue massages to renewing facials. One of the most unique services on the island is the Beekeeper Scrub and Massage at Sense, a Rosewood Spa. This sweet exfoliating massage uses a scrub of pure honey and cane sugar to leave the skin bright and glowing. After tropical rain splash therapy in the Silver TAG® shower, where 18 showerheads act in concert to massage the entire body, guests enjoy a relaxing massage with pure organic shea butter and the spa’s signature aromatherapy blend.
No matter what you hope to experience on your vacation, Bermuda truly has an activity for every type of visitor. From stunning under-the-sea adventures to exciting above-ground activities – you’re sure to experience fun, adventure and relaxation in this island paradise.
