Lil Nas X came to slay, Olivia Rodrigo turned sour into something sweet, and Doja Cat proved herself the hostess with the mostest surreal outfits ever.
Yes, we’re talking about the best looks from the 2021 VMAs.
Take a closer look at the stellar styles that graced the stage and walked the red carpet at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn last night.

Before she took home the Moon Person statue for Best New Artist, Sour queen Olivia Rodrigo strutted the red carpet in a Versace dress older than she is. This form-fitted look from the 2001 Couture Collection is crafted in pink tulle and modeled after the classic silhouettes of the 1940s.
The “Industry Baby” looked all grown up in this custom Atelier Versace suit. The soft lilac tones really popped against the red carpet, and the hand-applied crystal embroidery matched the three-time winner’s star power.
As the first ever nominated host, also slated to perform, Doja Cat did not sleep on her chance to steal the moment. She started out subtle with her red carpet look, rocking a burgundy and black wrapped corset look from Vivienne Westood’s Fall 2019 collection. Things got weird when she showed up on stage with a chair for a hat, but that turned eventually into a smart performance prop. That look, too, is Vivienne Westwood, from Andreas Kronthaler’s Spring 2019 collection for the edgy designer. She stunned in a colorful, quilted pupa-like look from Thom Browne’s SS18 RTW collection, and she closed out the show in straight-up chicken feet boots. A new art-pop star is here to stay.
Have no fear. When the clock strikes midnight, this rosy Cinderella star will only become even more beautiful. Camila Cabello turned heads in this bold silhouette from Alexis Mabille’s Haute Couture creation. The pink corset top sets the perfect pinch atop the oversized red bow gown.
Sometimes it’s not what you wear, but what you’re not wearing. Megan Fox proved nothing’s shocking in an incredibly-sheer gown by Thierry Mugler. Her rapper beau went full glam rock with his glittering red suit. MGK was a winner twice that night, walking next to Fox and taking home the Moon Person for Best Alternative Video for his song “My Ex’s Best Friend” with Blackbear.
