World's First Meditation and High Intensity Fitness Experience Moves Out East

By Amy Rosner By Amy Rosner | July 29, 2021 | Lifestyle

The Mind Body Project has teamed up with The Reform Club, the elegant and serene getaway in Amagansett, for a summer pop-up series in the Hamptons in late July and August!

Mind Body Project is the first-ever fitness concept to combine high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and meditation, addressing the needs of both mental and physical health. After battling anxiety for many years, Mind Body Project's founder, Chris Stockel, realized that meditation brought him a real peacefulness of mind, body, and soul.

Consequently, Stockel designed Mind Body Project to help other New Yorkers who might be struggling with similar mental and physical health issues. The brand preaches that the practice of meditation creates a deeper connection between self and the present moment. When paired together with HIIT, our mental and physical health needs can be seamlessly woven into one all-encompassing experience.

We celebrate Mind Body Project for aiming to destigmatize mental health issues and the toll they may take on our physical bodies. Even in 2021, there is still a prevalent stigma surrounding mental health topics, which may deter those suffering from speaking up and seeking adequate help.

By providing a platform directly targeted at addressing mental and physical health, The Mind Body Project is normalizing these issues that impact the vast majority every single day.

The class begins with guided breathwork, aiming to ground and prepare the body, which is then followed by challenging cardio and strength exercises.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) strengthens, tones, and leaves you sweaty. The exercises provide an effective, comprehensive workout in a very short amount of time, while simultaneously increasing your metabolism and burning more calories than other workout formats.

The class will close with a final meditation, which is proven to drastically reduce stress and anxiety levels. Meditation also provides mental clarity, calm, and focus, as well as lengthening your attention span.

As if that wasn’t enough, breathing exercises generate kindness, compassion, patience, and tolerance. Therapy, who?

The pop-up classes will take place outside in the Sunken Garden at The Reform Club. The Reform Club’s mission statement is centered around creating the space for active change through peaceful restorative practices.

Just like a tree, we can drastically transform while standing in pure stillness. The dichotomy between active and passive perfectly parallels the contrast between meditation and HIIT.

To ensure maximum safety, mats will be placed six feet apart and masks are optional for those who are vaccinated. If you’re a hotel guest, these classes are complimentary.

This weekend, classes will run Friday, July 30th, from 5-6 pm, and Sunday, August 1’st from 1-2 pm.

Future classes will be held on Fridays and Saturdays (August 6th, 7th, 13th, and 14th) from 5-6 pm.
